And here's why the name Nathaniel is so common. We are descended from Nathaniel DONHAM Jr. three times (and also, as the chart shows, twice from Thomas BROWN). There are many other families that descend twice from Nathaniel DONHAM Jr., but I only know of one other where they descend three times. That was the family of Isaac Ferguson DONHAM and Elizabeth DONHAM. The children were Cyrus Clayton DONHAM, Edgar Benton DONHAM, Hallie DONHAM, Nathaniel "Bud" DONHAM, and Berlin DONHAM....

The chart above shows our Mayflower lines. The boldfaced people were passengers on the 1620 voyage. We definitely descend from Christopher MARTIN, though the SUTTON connection up to him might be slightly different. John SUTTON had two wives named Elizabeth, so we are only descended from Thomas ROGERS if it was Elizabeth HIGGINS who was John SUTTON Jr.'s mother. Most sources, though, say that it was Elizabeth CONGER. And we are only descended from the FULLERs as long as Mary MARTIN was indeed the mother of Mary SUTTON.

This chart is interesting because it shows how two different people can share two totally unrelated ancestries. I met Bill BIEBESHEIMER through Prodigy when he answered one of my CASTELHUN bulletin board postings. So we traded information on that ancestry. In one of his mailings, though, he sent a chart of all of his ancestry, so I discovered that we're also related through the DUNGANs and LATHAMs. So he is related to both my father and my mother.
There's a similar connection through the SUTTON line. Bill ORMOND, of Lexington, KY, is descended from Nathaniel SUTTON, a brother of our ancestor William SUTTON. He is also descended from Aquilla SUGG, brother of our ancestors Thomas SUGG and Priscilla SUGG. So Bill ORMOND is related to both Genevieve DONHAM and Walter SUGGS.

In Fall 1994 at one of our board meetings, I was looking through Susan TRUMBULL's pedigree charts when I noticed that she's a DUNGAN descendent also, "Oh my God… We're cousins!" The board was amazed. In October I taught a PAF class at my home and Joy LEHMANN and I discovered we're related too, through the same lines. Joy found that Laila SUTER is also related. At the 1994 Christmas dinner we all posed for a photograph. When I put this chart in The Marin Kin Tracer, a member Richard LYMAN called to say that he descends from the same DUNGANs also.
